Commercial Kitchen Flooring in Redondo Beach

A commercial kitchen floor has to be waterproof, slip resistant, quick to clean and tough enough to survive everything a busy service throws at it, and it has to pass inspection. We install seamless urethane cement and high-build epoxy kitchen floors for restaurants right across Redondo Beach, from the seafood kitchens around King Harbor and the pier to the dining rooms of Riviera Village and the units along Artesia Boulevard.

What You Get From a Seamless Kitchen Floor

The biggest gain is that there is nothing for anything to get into. Quarry tile fails at the grout: it cracks, it holds water, and it becomes the thing your inspector points at. A seamless resin floor has no joints, no grout and no gap at the wall, so there is nowhere for grease, water or bacteria to sit. It cleans down to a hard sealed surface every night and it stays that way.

You also get a floor that stops being a running cost. No re-grouting, no lifted tiles to replace in the middle of a service, no patches that never quite match. It grips while it is wet and greasy, which is the only time a kitchen floor really matters, and it takes the daily assault of hot water, degreaser and loaded carts without softening or lifting. Most of the kitchens we coat are replacing tile that was losing a slow battle and eating staff time along the way.

Urethane Cement or High-Build Epoxy

For most restaurant kitchens we install urethane cement. It is a trowel-applied mortar laid about a quarter of an inch thick rather than a coating rolled on a few thousandths thick, and it is the system built for the one thing kitchens do that almost nothing else does: boiling water and hot oil hitting the floor, then a cold rinse an hour later. That swing is what pulls a thin coating off the slab. Urethane cement expands and contracts with the concrete instead of letting go at the edges and the door line.

Where the kitchen is lighter duty, a bar, a coffee shop or a prep room that never sees that kind of heat, a high-build epoxy costs less, installs faster and still gives you the same sealed, jointless surface. Grease decides it as much as heat does: animal fats, and the degreasers used to shift them, will attack the wrong resin until it dulls and then softens. We pick the system for chemical resistance first and appearance second, and we tell you which one your kitchen needs rather than quoting one system for every job.

Coving, Drains and Passing Inspection

Inspection is where the detail earns its money. We cove the floor up the wall in a continuous radius rather than stopping it at the wall line, so there is no square internal corner to trap anything and no seam for a mop to skip. That one detail does more for a hygiene score than any other part of the build.

Drainage is the other half of it. The falls have to genuinely run to the gullies, and the coating has to be dressed down into each drain rather than stopped short of it. Where a floor has settled, or was never laid to fall properly in the first place, we correct the levels as part of the work. Get the coving and the drains right and the rest of the floor looks after itself.
