Flake Flooring in Arcadia

A flake floor carries vinyl chips broadcast into a resin base and sealed under a clear coat. Arcadia properties rarely have just one floor that needs it. A garage at the front, a pool house at the back, a workshop or a converted unit off the driveway, and each one wants the same finish.

Pool Houses, Workshops and Detached Garages

A pool cabana takes constant wet traffic and chlorinated splash. Sealed flake handles both without the staining and efflorescence that bare concrete picks up around a pool deck, and the chip texture gives it grip while it is still wet underfoot. Changing rooms and outdoor bathrooms behind the pool are the same job on a smaller scale.

Workshops and hobby garages are where the chip layer earns its keep. Dropped tools, solvent, welding spatter and dragged steel all leave marks that would show plainly on a solid color coat and largely disappear into a chip pattern. Accessory dwelling units are the other common one on these lots. Flake sits directly on the prepared slab with nothing underneath it, so a converted garage keeps every inch of the ceiling height it already has.

The same system goes into commercial space along Huntington Drive and Baldwin Avenue. Clinics, dental and veterinary suites, salons, and the back-of-house areas behind restaurants and retail all need a floor that cleans down to nothing and has no grout line or seam to trap anything.

Flake is a good fit there because it is seamless and can be coved up the wall, so the floor and the base are one continuous surface. It also takes rolling loads, cart wheels and chair casters without scuffing through, and a busier chip blend keeps a commercial floor looking clean for longer between services than a plain color ever does.

Large Floors and a Consistent Batch

Coating three structures on one property is a different exercise from coating a single two-car garage. Resin is mixed in batches with a working time measured in minutes, and colored base coat mixed on Tuesday will not necessarily match a batch mixed the following week. On a large or multi-building job we plan the sequence so each continuous floor is poured from one run and the wet edge is never left to set mid-room.

Prep scales the same way. Every slab gets ground to bare, sound concrete with diamond tooling rather than acid etched, because grinding is what opens the surface enough for the resin to key into it. Detached structures are often the ones with the surprises: an old sealer on a workshop floor, a cabana slab poured thinner than the house, a driveway-level unit that has never had anything on it. We find those before the base coat goes down, not during.

Serving Arcadia and the San Gabriel Valley

Rise Coatings installs flake flooring across Arcadia, from Santa Anita Oaks and Highland Oaks through Baldwin Stocker and the streets around the racetrack and the Arboretum. A standard two-car garage is usually a two-day install: grind and base coat on the first day, clear coat on the second, walk on it overnight and park on it once it has fully cured. See our work in San Marino, Pasadena, West Covina, Glendora and Glendale.

Tell us how many structures you want coated and we will quote them together. The estimate is done on site, and it spells out the prep, the chip blend and the number of clear coats before any work starts.
