Which Floor Your Winery Actually Needs
Start with the room, not the price list. A tasting room needs a floor that looks finished and shrugs off spilled wine, so polished concrete is usually the answer. A cellar or barrel room needs a sealed, seamless surface that washes down and takes barrel carts, which is solid color epoxy. A crush pad takes hot water, acid and a fork truck every harvest, and that is urethane cement. Put the cheaper system in the harder room and you will be paying for it again in two seasons.
What all three give you is the same thing in different strengths. You get a sealed surface with no open joints for wine, water or debris to sit in, so a wash down actually removes what you are rinsing off instead of driving it into the slab. You get a floor that does not shed grit near open vessels. And you get something that can be repaired in one area rather than torn out across the building.
